Found dress form, 2018.
My relationship to the dress form began in the fall of 2017. I found her on the curb with a sign taped to her chest: “free”. The buttons down her front and back allowed me to put her on like a jacket. I formed her wires to the shape of my body. When I took her off I was shocked by the intimacy of experiencing the shape and form of my own body: she was me. I used her as an armature to build off of and manipulate, but now she is separate, no longer one to be used.
